Founded in 2017 Amidst Hurricane Harvey’s Aftermath
In 2017, as Hurricane Harvey unleashed its fury on Houston, a small yet determined group of individuals gathered in a modest garage, united by a common purpose: to aid the most vulnerable victims of this unprecedented disaster – the children. Houston Strong Children Services was born out of this collective resolve, embodying the indomitable spirit of a city known for its resilience and community solidarity.
A Mission Rooted in Community and Compassion
Our mission began in the midst of chaos and heartbreak. As Houston grappled with the hurricane’s devastating impact, it became evident that the youngest in our community were among the most affected. Many children found themselves displaced, traumatized, and in dire need of care and stability. Houston Strong Children Services emerged as a beacon of hope, dedicated to providing urgent assistance and long-term support to these children and their families.
From Immediate Relief to Long-Term Care
In those early days, our focus was on immediate relief – offering shelter, essential supplies, and emotional support. However, as the city began to heal and rebuild, our role evolved. We recognized the ongoing need for comprehensive services for children, particularly those in foster care or awaiting adoption. Our services expanded to include foster care placement and support, adoption services, family assistance programs, and advocacy for child welfare.

Over the years, Houston Strong Children Services has grown alongside the community it serves.
