2017: In the Eye of the Storm – The Beginning Houston Strong Children Services was born in a time of crisis. As Hurricane Harvey ravaged our city in 2017, a group of compassionate individuals gathered in a small garage, united by a singular goal: to protect and nurture the children caught in the storm’s path. This moment marked the inception of our journey as a foster care agency.
2018: Expanding Our Reach – Adoption Services With a year of dedicated service behind us, we expanded our scope to include adoption services. Recognizing the profound need for permanent, loving homes for children in the foster system, we embarked on a mission to connect these children with families eager to offer them a forever home.
2019: Healing Beyond Homes – Hospital Sitting Services In 2019, we introduced hospital sitting services, acknowledging the unique needs of children undergoing medical treatments. Our trained volunteers provided comfort and companionship to these young patients, ensuring they felt supported during their most vulnerable moments.
2020: Embracing Challenges – Specializing in Intense Behavioral Needs As our expertise and resources grew, so did our capacity to serve. In 2020, we began accepting children with severe behavioral challenges. This initiative was driven by our commitment to offer care and support to all children, regardless of the complexities of their needs.
2021: A Pioneering Step – Caring for PMN Youth In a pioneering move, Houston Strong Children Services became one of the few agencies in the State of Texas to specialize in caring for Primary Medical Needs (PMN) youth. This expansion allowed us to provide specialized care and support to children with significant medical conditions, furthering our commitment to serving the most vulnerable members of our community.
Today: A Beacon of Hope and Strength Today, Houston Strong Children Services stands as a beacon of hope and resilience, continuously evolving to meet the diverse needs of children in our community. Our goals are to expand to offer Behavioral Healthcare Services, Apprenticeships, and Residential Treatment Services. From our origins in a garage during a natural disaster to becoming a leading agency in child welfare, our journey is one of relentless dedication, unwavering compassion, and profound community support.
