Registered Nurse pursuing her Master’s degree at Walden University to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Originally from Puerto Rico and now living in Houston for the past 11 years, Melissa has a strong passion for supporting vulnerable populations, especially children and adolescents. Her five years of volunteer work in the Dominican Republic deepened her commitment to trauma-informed care and youth mental health. As an intern at Houston Strong, she aims to foster healing for children and families while growing her clinical skills. Melissa’s long-term goal is to serve underserved communities as a psychiatric nurse practitioner specializing in youth mental health.
